MIDLAND, TEXAS—The pop-pop-popping had long since died down and the food and festivities had started up when the news of who-won-what began to circulate. The shooting portion was over but the cooking competition was still in play at the Permian Basin Petroleum Association’s annual Clay Shoot and Pit King Challenge, held again at Jake’s Clays.
In the shooting competitions, a top team was recognized over each of the three shooting courses that were tackled. The three number one teams this year are New Wave Energy Services, Imperative Chemical Partners, and Diamondback Energy. Let’s make sure you’ve read that correctly. It’s not those three teams finishing in that order. No—there were three competitions, and these teams are each the winner of their own individual competition. For all the shooting winners for all the courses, see the accompanying box.
Later, when the smoke settled on the cooking competition, the top team was Lucky Family of Excellence, who extended their string of victories. For the rest of the winners on the food front, see the appropriate box.
Later, the swag was doled not just to the top shooters and cookers, but to numerous others in attendance. If you’re not getting to these shoots and golf sprees, you’re not getting in on the swag, and it is sizable and significant.
We share with you here some representative photos from what was a grand day of sporting action, fun, food, and festivities.
