Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association said recently employment in the state’s upstream sector of the oil and gas industry increased by 400 jobs from May to June 2026. Using data from U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, TIPRO said service sector jobs increased by 1,300 (to 135,800) and jobs in oil and gas extraction decreased by 900 (to 61,900).
TIPRO said July 17 its workforce analysis “continues to indicate strong job postings for the Texas oil and natural gas industry.” Of the top 10 companies listed by unique job postings in June, five were in the services sector, two midstream companies, and one each in the downstream sector, gasoline station with convenience store, and fully integrated oil and natural gas company.
TIPRO also reported state production taxes paid by Texas producers totaled $948 million to generate significant tax revenue for essential services and public education. The total includes $736 million in oil production taxes and $212 million in natural gas production taxes in the month of June.
