French oil major Total and Lightsource BP both recently announced solar projects in Texas. Total and 174 Power Global said Jan. 14 they formed a joint venture to develop 12 solar and energy storage projects in Texas, Nevada, Oregon, Wyoming and Virginia. The projects include three in west Texas, one in north central Texas and another in south Texas. Total’s Julien Pouget, renewables director, said, “I am confident that this will pave the way to more opportunities in the U.S. renewables and storage market.”
BP affiliate Lightsource said this week it is building two solar projects in north Texas with $380 million in financing. The Elm Branch and Briar Creek projects will be located 40 miles south of Dallas with commercial operation scheduled to begin later this year.
