U.S. posted its second straight week of double-digit gains in count of active drilling rigs. Baker Hughes said as of Feb. 18 there were 306 rigs in Permian Basin (301 previous week, 204 previous year), 308 in Texas (300 previous week, 194 previous year), 94 in New Mexico (92 previous week, 61 previous year) and 645 in U.S. (635 previous week, 397 previous year).
Other leading regions include Haynesville (58 rigs) and Eagle Ford (54) in south Texas, and other leading states include Louisiana and Oklahoma with 53 rigs each. Permian Basin leaders include Lea (58) and Eddy (30) counties in New Mexico and the Texas counties of Martin (28), Midland (27) and Reeves (26).
