Employment in the upstream oil and gas industry in Texas showed a decline in November following five consecutive months of growth, according to data from U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Austin-based Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association said direct upstream employment in Texas for November totaled 194,400. That’s a decrease of 1,500 jobs from October – 600 in oil and gas extraction and 900 in the services sector.
Ed Longanecker, president, said Dec. 20, “TIPRO looks forward to working with the new administration to unleash the true potential of the U.S. oil and gas industry.” He added that new workforce data again indicates strong job postings for the state’s oil and natural gas industry.
