Midland-based Diamondback Energy said Thursday its CEO, Travis D. Stice, will step down as CEO at the company’s 2025 annual meeting and remain as executive chairman through the 2026 annual meeting. Kaes Van’t Hof, president, will become CEO and join the Board of Directors at the 2025 annual meeting. Stice has led Diamondback since 2012 and also will step down as CEO of Viper Energy.
Melanie M. Trent, lead independent director, said of Stice, “His hard work, dedication and commitment to Diamondback grew an unknown, small-cap oil producer in 2012 into one of the largest oil and gas companies in North America.” A 1984 graduate of Texas A&M, he started his career in 1985 with Mobil Oil.
