Midland-based Viper Energy said last week it agreed to acquire all equity interests in Riverbend Oil & Gas IX in a transaction valued at $522 million ($337 million cash). Riverbend owns mineral and royalty interests on 3,064 net royalty acres in Delaware and Midland basins. Expected production in the next 12 months of these assets is about 2,000 barrels of oil per day (4,000 boed).
Primary operators in Midland Basin include ExxonMobil and Diamondback Energy, and primary operators in Delaware Basin include ConocoPhillips, EOG Resources, Occidental and Permian Resources.
Viper also said its average production in 2026Q1 was 65,000 barrels of oil per day (130,711 boed). Kaes Van’t Hof, CEO, added, “Viper delivered a strong start to 2026 as we continued to execute on all aspects of our business. Production during the quarter exceeded expectations, and that momentum is carrying into an increased growth outlook for the remainder of 2026.”
Forecast net production for Q2 is 64,000 to 65,000 b/d of oil (124,000 to 126,000 boed), and fullyear net production forecast is 64,500 to 66,500 b/d of oil (126,000 to 130,000 boed).
