Austin-based WhiteWater Midstream will expand capacity of its planned Eiger Express natural gas pipeline. Having secured sufficient transportation agreements, WhiteWater said Nov. 24 it will expand capacity to 3.7 Bcfd (from 2.5 Bcfd) by increasing the pipeline from 42 inches to 48 inches and by adding incremental compression.
Eiger Express will transport natural gas from Permian Basin to a hub near Katy following right-of-way established by Matterhorn pipeline (2.5 Bcfd) that began commercial operations in October 2024. Eiger Express is scheduled to begin service in mid 2028. It is a joint venture of Matterhorn joint venture (70 percent), ONEOK (15 percent) and MPLX (15 percent).
WhiteWater is an infrastructure company that operates multiple gas transmission assets. It partners with multiple private equity funds, including FIC and I Squared Capital.
