Global energy research firm Wood Mackenzie said the Port of Corpus Christi will surpass the Port of Houston as the nation’s top crude oil exporter within 10 years. Wood Mckenzie said major investments in shipping facilities and pipeline projects will route more than two million barrels of crude oil per day from Permian Basin to Port of Corpus Christi within the next year. Across the lower 48 states, crude oil production volumes are expected to rise by four million barrels per day in the next five years – much of it from Permian Basin. As a result, the firm said, export volumes at Port of Corpus Christi are expected to quadruple in the next five years. A $380 million project to deepen and widen Port of Corpus Christi is in progress.
