Global operator Shell led drillers in filing permits in Texas for the week of May 20-26, according to Houston Chronicle. Oil major Royal Dutch Shell said it will continue its drilling program in Permian Basin with 5 horizontal wells on 2 leases in Loving County. They target Phantom field of Wolfcamp to depths of 11,600 to 11,950 feet.
Also in west Texas, Midland’s Blackbeard Operating filed 4 permits for vertical wells in Crane County to target Sand Hills field to depth of 9,000 feet.
The Chronicle said only 1 permit was filed during the week of May 20-26 to drill in Eagle Ford Shale in south Texas. Houston-based EP Energy, which declared chapter 11 bankruptcy last year, filed a permit with Railroad Commission of Texas to drill a horizontal well in La Salle County in Eagleville field to depth of 10,000 feet. Twenty-three companies filed 45 permits in Texas for May 20-26.
