Houston-based Kinder Morgan said Wednesday it will invest $4.7 billion in two joint venture pipeline projects, including $1.6 billion with subsidiary Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America for its Permian Link. The 434-mile pipeline will serve new power generation for an A-rated hyperscaler and is supported by long-term transportation agreements. Permian Link is scheduled to begin operations in 2030 third quarter with capacity of 2.8 Bcfd with a total project cost of $4.2 billion.
Kimberly Dang, CEO, said Permian Link will be “among the largest natural gas pipeline projects to be constructed in decades.”
Kinder Morgan also committed $3.1 billion for its Southeast Connector with subsidiary Southern Natural Gas, which is designed to transport 2.6 Bcfd on 470 miles of new pipeline.

434 miles for Permian Link and another 470 for the Southeast Connector is a lot of pipe going in at once, and both are lined up behind power for data centers. Kimberly Dang calling it one of the biggest gas pipeline builds in decades sounds about right. We run a job board for traveling trades workers, and the welders, pipefitters and operators for jobs like this mostly come from out of town, so crews get bid away from one project to the next. For anyone planning the staffing side before 2030, here’s what the trades labor pool looks like market by market.
Have you got a rough idea of a route in the Permian?
