Permian Basin, Texas and U.S. each added drilling rigs again last week, according to the weekly report of Feb. 14 by Baker Hughes. Permian Basin was up 1 rig to 304 (312 year ago), Texas was up 2 to 280 (299 year ago), and U.S. was up 2 to 588 (621 year ago). New Mexico reported 106 rigs again (101 year ago). It was the third straight week for U.S. to add rigs.
Oklahoma is No. 3 among states with 44 (43 week ago, 42 year ago) followed by North Dakota with 32 (33 week ago, 32 year ago) and Louisiana with 30 (31 week ago, 45 year ago). Eagle Ford in south Texas is No. 2 among regions with 48 (48 week ago, 52 year ago) followed by Williston with 33 (34 week ago, 34 year ago), Haynesville with 30 (30 week ago, 43 year ago) and Marcellus with 23 (23 week ago, 31 year ago).
Permian’s leading counties, Eddy (53 rigs) and Lea (50) in southeast New Mexico, were unchanged in the past week followed by Midland with 29 (up 1), Martin with 26 (up 1) and Reeves with 26 (unchanged). Others include Loving with 19 rigs, Reagan and Upton each with 13, Ward with 11 and Howard with 10.
