A natural gas-fueled power plant in Reeves County recently received the ninth loan from the Texas Energy Fund. The Pecos power plant is designed to produce 450 megawatts of new, reliable power – enough electricity to power about 110,000 Texas homes – for the grid in west Texas. It is scheduled to begin generating power for ERCOT in 2027.
Governor Greg Abbott said Oct. 7, “This Texas Energy Fund loan adds more than 450 megawatts of new, reliable natural gas generation in west Texas and fortifies the grid for Texas homes and businesses.” Thomas Gleeson, chairman of Public Utilities Commission of Texas, added, “With quick start capabilities to meet fluctuating demand and a design suited for west Texas winters, this facility will add a dependable source of power for Texas families and businesses.”
